Mangalore: Oscar Fernandes, Rajya Sabha Member and Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Human Resource Development, has said that the effective implementation of the Right to Education Act will go a long way in helping India’s Gross enrolment ratio in schools to touch 30 per cent by 2020.
He was delivering the inaugural address at the two-day national seminar on ‘Quality: The Key Factor in Administrative Reforms in Higher Education’ organised by Besant Women’s College in collaboration with the Association of First Grade College Principals, Mangalore University, at Besant College Auditorium on December 28. Oscar said the gross enrolment ratio presently stood at 13.4 per cent.
Dr H A Ranganath, Director of National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore, who delivered the key note address said technology need to enter classrooms. Dedicated teaching is also a must to maintain quality in education, he added.
President of Women’s National Education Society (WNES), Mangalore Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy, presided over the function.
Dr Manjula KT, Principal of Besant College welcomed the gathering. Manel Annappa Nayak, Vice President of Women’s National Education Society was also on the dais.
