Mangalore : New Year was welcomed in a grand manner in Mangalore. Colourful fireworks lit the sky as the clock struck twelve. Youth were found dancing to the tunes of melodious music  in various parts of Mangalore. Even beaches were thronged by people who wanted to celebrate the arrival of the New Year with a bang.

Hotels, resorts in Mangalore had organised special New Year eve programmes and the same were participated by youngsters in large numbers. Various private parties were also hosted and it was fun, frolic and excitement everywhere.

The celebrations continued till 1 am the deadline set by the police department to end the celebrations. The police were on patrolling all over the city  in order to prevent any untoward incident.
