Sullia :  One Vasanth Sherigar(47) the accused in the case of murder of two persons including a woman at Naraje in Sullia on Saturday night, has been arrested.

Padmavathi (38), wife of Harish Naika of Naraje and a tractor driver Hithesh (30) were found murdered in a hilly behind the house of Padmavathi. Vasanth who was with Padmavathi and Hithesh the previous night, was absconding, giving room for suspicion that he might be the killer.

Police said he has admitted his guilt. He has also shown to the police the place where he discarded the pick axe used to kill the two. He is said to have had an affair with the deceased Padmavathi  since two years and had reportedly committed the offence after Padmavathi refused to heed to him and left with Hithesh to the hill behind her house.

The murder had taken place after the family of Padmavathi along with Hithesh, Vasanth and other labourers who were engaged in the land leveling works of Harish, had retired to bed.

Investigations are in progress.
