Mangalore : A Mangalore City Corporation team led by Senior Health Inspector Bharath Kumar raided several shops in Karangalpady market area on January 1 Tuesday and seized plastic weighing 19.55 kg.
Several shops, bakeries, hotels, flower and vegetable stalls were raided and the banned plastic bags found. Fine was also collected from the defaulting shopkeepers.
The MCC team also raided stalls at the Karavali Utsav exhibition ground.
Five teams have already been formed by the Mangalore City Corporation to oversee the effective implementation of the traffic ban.
The raids were conducted at the direction of Corporation Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar. The officials who took part in the raid included health inspectors Poovappa, Basavaraj Sushanth, Yashwanth and Karunaker and environment engineer Manjunath Shetty.
