Mangalore : A discussion of Vachana Sahitya (Veerashaiva religious literature), along with thanks giving for the service of Kannada rendered by Prof. P.P. Joseph for many years at the Govt. College in Car Street, was held under the auspices of DK Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Kannada Snagha of the college at Car Street today at 2 PM.
Pradeep K. Kalkura hanoured Prof. Joseph on his transfer to Kavoor and Welcomed Elvira Philomena as the new Principal on the occasion. The Deputy Director of Commercial Taxes Deptt, Pansale Jaganathappa delivered the Keynote address on Vachana literature. Deputy Mayor Rajendra Kumar was the chief guest of honour at the function. K.K. Leelavathi, secretary of Kannada Snagha, welcomed the gathering students and teacher. Ms. Satyaprema proposed a vote of thanks.
Speaking on the occasion to honour prof P.P. Joseph the outgoing Principal after a decade of service in Kannada at Car Street, the DK-KSP chief Kalkura referred to the responsibility-awareness of Prof Joseph who worked day and night to transform the Govt. Junior College for Ladies into a prominent institution. Such hard working people have their days always cut out smooth for them as Karmayogis. If we find out what is our vocation in a given area, we can later develop into social servicemen for district, state and the nation. Kavoor College will benefit now from Prof. Joseph’s presence there. Kalkura asked the students to follow in the path laid down by Prof. Joseph to be a good citizen and capable leader in different walks of life, and that will be a real thank giving to Prof. Joseph, who is a model person with exemplary devotion to duty, Kalkura added. He then honoured Prof. P.P. Joseph in all humility with flowers and fruits and a shawl also memotoes. A large gathering of students was present.
