Beltangady : Three Golden Kalashas costing Rs 1.2 crore were handed over to the Sri Panchalingeshwara Temple of Vittal on January 6, Sunday by Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala on behalf of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala at a function held at Amritavarshini hall of Dharmasthala.
Each Kalasha has one kg gold and is made of copper and mercury with a golden coating. Each Kalasha costs Rs 40 lakh.
Mohandas Swamiji of Manila, Krishnaiah Ballal, Trustee of Panchalingeshwara Temple, LN Kudoor, received the Kalasha.
Speaking on the occasion, D Veerendra Heggade said the Kalashas have been donated considering the great bonding which the Dharmasthala and Vittal temples enjoyed since olden times. He urged the devotees to develop the shrine with unstinted devotion to God.
On this occasion, Heggade also informed that nearly 160 temples have been renovated through the Dharmasthala Dharmothana Trust.
The Kalashas were later taken to Vittal in a grand procession.
