Mangalore : A grand procession organised by the district administration in association with Ramakrishna Mutt in connection with the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner N Prakash and DK District Minister CT Ravi in Mangalore on January 12, Saturday. Several dignitaries including N Vinay Hegde, Chairman of Nitte education Trust, Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLC, Krishna Palemar, MLA, Vijayaprakash, ZP CEO were present. The procession which began at Nehru Maidan ended at Ramakrishna Mutt and was participated by thousands of student.
Later, a programme called ‘Viveka Sanchalana’ was held at Ramakrishna Mutt premises. The main objective of the same was to ignite young minds on the achievements of Swami Vivekananda.
Speaking on the occasion, CT Ravi stressed the need to incorporate Vivekananda ideals in school syllabus . He said Swami Vivekananda portrayed Akhanda Bharatha to the world.
Monappa Bhandari, MLC, Swami Jithakamanandaji, President of Ramakrishna Mutt and others were present.
