Udupi: The Brahmaratha of Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt, which was re-built at a cost of over Rs one crore was dedicated to the Lord during the Mooru Theru Utsava held at the temple town on the occasion of Makara Sankramana Festival.
The annual three chariot festival of the Krishna Mutt was witnessed by thousands of devotees.. Shree Vishwavallabha Thirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Sri Sode Vadiraja Math, Shree Vishweshva Thirtha Swamiji of Sri Pejawar Math, Shree Vishwaprasanna Thirtha Swamiji, Shree Vidyasagara Thirtha Swamiji of Sri Krishnapura Math, Shree Vidyadheesha Thirtha Swamiji of Shree Palimar Math pulled the chariot and offered it to Lord Krishna. The new chariot was built in record time of two months 23 days by 63 artistic sculptors. The old chariot was built 200 years back by Shree Vidhyasamudra Thirtha of Shree Krishnapura Math.
A function was held in this connection at Carstreet. Speaking on the occasion, Paryaya Sode Seer said the Brahma Ratha was built in a record time with the hard works of Balkur Gopalacharya and his team.
Teppotsava will be held in Udupi today as part of the celebrations.
