Mangalore : A short circuit in the electricity meter led to a fire in a two storied building named Krishna Prasad, adjacent to Vishwa Bhavan on KS Rao Road on January 15, Tuesday night.

Four fire tender vehicles which rushed to the spot, put out the fire. Eight persons who were in the building were rescued through the window. The building houses offices of banks, lawyers and some other business establishment. The extent of the loss is yet to be ascertained.

A large crowd had gathered on the road  to watch the rescue operations. The fire also caused some amount of panic . Vehicular traffic was also disrupted for some time on the road.
