Mangalore : Speaking on the 64th Republic Day celebration held at Nehru Maidan, District minister in charge C T Ravi said that state government is working for the development of the state and maintaining its culture and tradition. Speaking on the occasion, he said that even after 65 years of Republic, our country is following Unity in Diversity. But some forces like terrorism and naxalism are trying to divide the country and it must be tackled.
Today terrorism is increasing by religious sentiments of the people and indirectly creating harm to the country. Hence Indian’s must stand firm in their decision and must try to defeat these forces, he said.
Speaking on the Indian Constitution, Mr. Ravi said that Dr. B R Ambedkar, played a key role in drafting the Constitution of the country. The contents in it do not make it good or bad, but the way in people implemented it, determines its efficiency. Just before his Republic Day address, Minister received the guard of honor in an open jeep. Teams comprising the traffic police, the civil police, the PSI, the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), NCC Army Junior, NCC Navy Junior, Guides, Road Safety Patrol, Bharath Seva Dal, and others participated in the march past, accompanied by the police band.
Students and achievers from various fields were honoured on the occasion. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Deputy speaker of legislative assembly N Yogish Bhat, IGP Western Range Prathap Reddy, MLA U T Khader, deputy commissioner N Prakash, Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar, Mangalore City Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar, Deputy Mayor Amita Kala, MLC Monappa Bhandary, DK, Abhishek Goyal, SP, DK, K Dayananda, Additional DC, Srikar Prabhu, Nithin Kumar and others were among those present.
Minister C T Ravi also inaugurated the Vintage Car Rally and an exhibition of old models of two-wheelers including Jawa, Royal Enfield, Fantabulus, Lambretta and Yezdi organized by the Mangalore Motor Association under the guidance of Sudhir B. K.
