Mangalore: The 114th birth anniversary of General KM Cariappa, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Army of Independent India was observed at the War Memorial near KPT in Mangalore on January 28, Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLC said General Cariappa was the brave son of the soil and said he was proud to represent Kodagu which gifted Cariappa to the nation. He also called upon the youth to emulate the ideals of the great personality.
N Prakash, Deputy Commissioner described General Cariappa as a proud son of India who was an ideal to everyone.
SP Changappa. President of the DK District Bar Association, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, state award winning singer Kasturi and others were present.
