Bangalore : A complaint of disproportionate assets has been filed against Textiles Minister Varthur Prakash with the Lokayukta.
The complainant, Shankare Gowda of Bylahalli in Kolar, has alleged that Prakash possessed wealth more than what he had declared before the Election Commission.
Prakash, while declaring his assets before the EC prior to the elections, in 2008, claimed that there were no assets in his name, Gowda told Deccan Herald.
“But it has come to light that Varthur Prakash had in fact set up a private company, Nitin Projects Pvt Ltd, in 2007. In 2010, while declaring his assets before the Lokayukta, Prakash has stated that the same company has been accruing him Rs 15 lakh of income a year,” Gowda said. Prakash claimed himself as managing director of the construction company set up on partnership basis.
Besides, Prakash had declared in 2010 one kilo of gold and 10 kilos of silver. “All these anomalies, and more, needs to be investigated,” he said.
Prakash was hauled up by the quasi-judicial body in 2010 for delaying in filing the declaration of the assets, made mandatory under the Lokayukta Act.-DH News
