Mangalore : Speaking at ‘Meet the Press’ programme held at Press Club on Feb 12, Tuesday, MESCOM Managing Director S Sumanth said that MESCOM is having an independent Regional Load Dispatch Centre located at Mangalore with SCADA facility.
H also said that the peak demand for state in Jan 2013 is 8549 MW and 723 MW doe MESCOM including four districts Shimoga, Chikmagalur, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.
Sumanth also said that to feed the electricity to Mnagalore City, there are 7 substations of 33/11 KV including four new sub stations at Kadri, Kudroli, Nandigudde and Attavara. Other three are in Mannagudda, Kankanady and Maidan. To connect these sub- stations, there is one 220 KV substation at SRS Kavoor and there is one 110/ 33/ 11 KV sub -station at Kulshekar belonging to KPTCL. Further, the works at 110 KV sub –station of KPTCL are in progress at Bejai and Jeppu, he said.
MESCOM will go for computerization of revenue billing and accounting. MESCOM also has a programme called Total Revenue Management which is in operation through agencies. It will also step into computerization of all finance, accounting and MIS matters.
Speaking on the unauthorized IP Sets, Sumanth said that there are 21,693 of unauthorized IP sets which have been registered for regularization. Regularization of these installations is in progress. Creation of required infrastructure for power supply to IP set installations is the main work in the next 8-10 months.
It has even distributed the contact number cards to the consumers in all the 4 districts at the time of issuing of bills so that consumers can contact company’s concerned officials during emergencies. It is dedicated to issue similar cards once again during March/ April this year.
Sumanth said that the population in Mescom limit is 61 lakhs and the consumers are 18.6 lakhs, giving an annual turnover of Rs 1650 crore, out of which 70% of the amount is paid to purchase the power. The distribution loss of Mescom is 12.09% which is the lowest among all the ESCOM and distribution loss in Mangalore City is just 7%, which is a good compared to other city, he said.
