Dubai : A Syrian mother, Ranim Amir Borak, has given birth to quintuplets – three boys and two girls – via caesarean section at a hospital in Dubai.
The children, born prematurely, are currently at the hospital’s neonatal unit and are in a stable condition. The children were conceived naturally after five years of marriage.
Dr. Khaled Kouteich, Consultant OB-Gynecologist – Saudi German Hospital Dubai, who delivered the children, said: “During the course of Ranim’s pregnancy she faced several complications, mainly due to the multiple fetuses she was carrying. Although Ranim’s condition was highly complex and challenging, Saudi German Hospital-Dubai was confident of successfully delivering the children. Interestingly, we were in for a pleasant surprise during the caesarean section. All the previous ultrasound scans only showed four fetuses, but during the operation we were delighted to find a fifth baby. The mother and babies are recovering well, and we will be offering all possible support to the family during their stay at the hospital.”
