Udupi : Udupi Deputy Commissioner Dr MT Reju has said that 148 polling booths will be set up in Udupi district for the election to the local bodies on March 7. He said the total number of electorate in the district stood at 122453.
He said the poll code of conduct notification will be issued on February 16 and the same will come into effect. February 23 is the last date to submit the nominations and the nominations will be scrutinized on February 25.The last date for withdrawal of nominations is February 27, he informed. The counting will be held on March 11.
The DC said Electronic Voting Machines will be used for the first time in local body polls. The district will get 200 EMVs for the purpose, he informed. The DC informed that 28 polling booths will be set up in Udupi, 23 each in Kundapur and Karkala and 14 in Saligrama. In Udupi CMC limits there are nearly 40 sensitive and 17 hypersensitive polling booths, he informed. Five Returning Officers are appointed in Udupi, the DC informed and added there will be three returning officers in Kundapur, four in Karkala and two in Saligrama.
SP Dr Boralingaiah, Addition DC Kumar were also present.
