Mangalore : Mrs Chethana, noted dietician, gave an interactive talk on “Diet” for women named ‘Live Well’ at the Eric Mathias Hall of St Aloysius College on February 27, Wednesday.
The programme was organised by the Department of Mass Communication, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangalore in association with Chetana and Humanitarian Relief Society (HRS).
In her address, Chethana highlighted the need for a good diet for a healthy mind and a healthy mind. She also spoke on the importance of following a healthy diet regime to stay fit.
Mr. John. E. D’Silva was the Chief Guest for the event. He highly appreciated the efforts made by event coordinator, for arranging this event and requested to arrange more such programmes. He further said that this subject is equally important and should be taught with Commerce and Science.
The star speakers were Dr. Aruna Mallya, Dietician from K.M.C, and Dr. Sushma Kori from VLCC gave a talk on ‘DIET’.
Dr. Aruna Mallya spoke on the topic “Women’s Health”, and enlightened all present there with what type food is necessary. She also spoke on health tips, nutrition tips for women for all ages. She also answered the question asked by the audience on the diet of pregnant women, health tips for girls. She also clarified that among non-veg fish is beneficial for skin as it contains cod-lever oil and Omega3. She advised Red Meat should be avoided. And also advised non-veg should be taken before 7 for better digestion.
Dr. Sushma Kori spoke on ‘General Diet’ and ‘Balanced Diet’. She spoke about value of cereals, slim milk, salads, fibres and minerals. She also spoke about which food is necessary for the health.
