Bantwal : The Edneer Sri Gopalkrishna Yakshagana Saptaha organized at Padmanabha Nagar in BC Road was inaugurated on March 5, Tuesday by Ananthakrishna, ex-officio Chairman of Karnataka Bank.
Speaking on the occasion, Ananthakrishna said watching Yakshagana soothes the minds while also enlightening people on mythological sequences.
Sri Keshavananda Bharathi Theertha Swamiji of Edneer Mutt, blessed the occasion. ML Samaga, President of Karnataka Yakshagana Academy who presided over the function, said Yakshagana has been able to retain its popularity owing to its religious background.
Entrepreneur Sesappa Kotian, Convenor Keyyur Narayana Bhat, Shivashanker and others were present.
Prior to the stage function, an attractive procession was taken out from the BC Road main circle upto the programme venue. MLA Ramanatha Rai too took part in the procession.
Later a Yakshagana “Krishna Leele Kamsa Vadhe” was staged. The Yakshagana Saptaha will be held upto March 11.
