Udupi : The Congress victory in Udupi CMC election is historic as this is the first time in the history of the CMC that the Congress is rising to power. Of the total 35 wards, the Congress has won in 22, while the BJP has been restricted to 12 seats and a major setback. Independents bagged one seat.
In the previous CMC the BJP had bagged 28 seats and Congress 6 and independent one.
