Mangalore: The Karnataka Lokayukta (people’s vigilance commissioner). Justice N. Santosh Hegde, on a private visit to Mangalore on Monday told reporters here that he had no objection, if one more deputy was appointed to assist him but that appointee should not bother about illegal mining / transport of iron ore episodes.
Hegde himself was doing the investigation along with a team, he admitted. The work involved is of sensitive nature and outside interference is not welcome, he added.
As he asked for additional staff, the govt, was appointing a few more police officers under him. DGP (Ajay Singh) had agreed to loan the services of those men for enquiry into illegal mining deals, Hegde elaborated.
Apart from them, supplementary staff was still needed. Hegde was conducting an enquiry into Mandya medical college staff appointments on request, but Hassan College appointments are not in his visual (official) range as yet, he concluded.
