Mangalore: The General meeting of the DK Zilla Panchayat held here on March 16, Saturday resolved to urge the government extend the 90 day time limit to begin construction of houses under Basava Housing Scheme, to four months.
Several members including MS Mohammad, Mamatha Gatti pointed out that the beneficiaries were unable to start construction within 90p days owing to delay in securing permission, shortage of construction materials etc. They also pointed out that the Rajeev Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation cancels the sanction of the aid if house construction is not taken up within 90 days and requested some flexibility in rules.
ZP Chief Executive Officer Dr KN Vijayaprakash said Nodal officers at taluk level will be overseeing the implementation of the project. He said the government would be requested to extend the time limit as requested by the members.
There was even a demand for effective measures to ensure all government facilities reached the target Koraga community.
There was also a heated debate among members on the issue of violating protocol by ignoring ZP members during holding of government functions and implementation of projects.
