Mangalore : Kavoor SI Umesh has been transferred  to the CCRB unit at the Mangalore Police Commissioner’s office. This development in the wake of the recent disturbance during the Congress victory procession at Kunjathbail.

The former BJP corporator was arrested following the clashes and subsequently released the next day following pressure by BJP and various Hindu organizations which threatened to intensify protest.

The Kavoor SI was accused of assaulting the former BJP corporator. The Hindu associations had also set a 48 hour deadline to suspend the officer.

Now in a latest move, he has been transferred, in an apparent bid to pacify the BJP and Hindutva activists.

Meanwhile, the Kavoor bundh call given by the agitators has been withdrawn following the transfer of the inspector.
