Udupi: A host of Congress leaders gathered at the Chittaranjan circle in the town on March 19, Tuesday to felicitated the newly elected councilors and to thank the voters for electing the BJP to power in the Udupi CMC.

Addressing the function, senior Congress leader Oscar Fernandes thanked the people of Udupi for electing the Congress and said the party would strive to provide an administration free from corruption. He also called upon the newly elected councilors to do their duties with dedication and added they should always have the interest of the electorate uppermost in mind.

Udupi Chikmagalur MP Jayaprakash Hegde who also spoke, said the party would repeat its performance even in the elections to the Assembly.

Udupi Block Congress President Pramod Madhwaraj thanked the voters for their wise decision and added the party would make all efforts to fulfill the commitments made in the manifesto.

A host of leaders including AICC Secretary Vinay Kumar Sorake, former Minister Vasanth V Salian, KPCC Secretary M A Gafoor, Udupi-Chikmagalur Youth Congress Vice President Amrith Shenoy and local unit office bearers were present.
