Mangalore : Deputy Commissioner N Prakash has said that a shadow accounts committee is already functioning in the district to keep an eye on the pll related expenses of political parties.

Addressing a meeting  of  representatives of political parties held in Mangalore on March 25, Monday, the DC said the parties and their candidates need to provide exact information regarding their expenses and added a candidate can spend a maximum of Rs 16 lakhs including all expenses. The district administration wants political parties to maintain transparency so that free and fair polls can be held.

The DC also hoped political parties will be disciplined as far as poll related activities are concerned. He also stated that the administration would provide the requisite information to the media on a time to time basis.
