Belthangady : Sri Shivanubhava Charamurthi Shivarudra Mahaswami of Beli Mutt Bangalore, said the great saint poet and social reformer Basavanna has visualized a society which did not differentiate between men and women.
He was speaking after welcoming the Sharana Samskriti Mahayatre at the Pravachana Mantap of Dharmasthala on April 1, Monday night.
Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, presided over the function. He said Basavanna not only preached but also practiced what he preached.
Sri Siddalinga Swamiji of Beli Mutt, Aravinda Jatti, President of Basava Samithi, Bangalore, Prof. Basavaraj Madigonda, of SDM Engineering College, Dr Rajashekhar, Lecturer in SDM College, and others were present.
Due respects were paid to the Basava Grantha of 12th century which is in Manjusha Museum at Dharmasthala.
The Sharana Samskrithi Mahayatre which began at Basavana Bagewadi on March 13 will conclude at Koodalasangama on April 14.
