Mangalore : Vijaykumar Hegde. State Vice President of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha has said that the farmers will be laying siege to the office of the MESCOM MD on April 8 in protest against the anti-farmer and anti-people policies of MESCOM.
Speaking to reporters in Mangalore on April 3, Wednesday, the Raitha Sangha leader said the undivided DK district had begun to face unprecedented power problems after the UPCL was set up. He said ever since then the power from Jog has been diverted to Hassan and Bangalore adding to the woes of the undivided DK district. The power problems of the district cannot be solved both by the existing UPCL or proposed Niddodi project, he further said.
Vijaykumar Hegde further said accused the MESCOM officials of harassing farmers by demanding their lands for laying of electric poles and such other works. He also stated that much of the KERC policies were aimed at appeasing the electricity supply and electricity generating companies.
He said the farmers are enraged over the frequent power cuts which has hit hard the people of the undivided DK district.
