Udupi : Sources have revealed that the BJP was contemplating to field Sudhaker Shetty, a hotelier and former president of Udupi Urban Development Authority from the  Udupi constituency.

This latest development comes in the aftermath of the sleaze CD allegedly involving Udupi’s sitting MLA Raghupathi Bhat. Soon after the news was public, Raghupathi Bhat had said he would not contest the elections and will remain away from politics until he was free from charges.

Sudhaker Shetty owns the Sharada International Hotel and is a former vice president of Udupi CMC. He had contested the 2004 polls as independent with support of Hindu Yuva Sene by rebelling against the BJP which had  denied ticket to him.
