Mangalore : The moral policemen are at work again prior to the assembly elections. In an incident reported from Nellikatte in Puttur on April 8, Monday, a Muslim student of a private college was attacked for the sole reason that he had spoken to one of his classmates, a Hindu girl.

The student namely  Zubair who was brutally attacked, has been admitted to the hospital.

The incident took place when Zubair was walking towards home from college. According to the complaint lodged by him with the Puttur police two persons including one Narmesh intercepted him while he was on way home and reprimanded him for speaking to a classmate girl who is a Hindu. They then reportedly attacked him. Zubair said later he was chased by a group of around 10 persons and attacked him near the Puttur bus stand.

Putur police are conducting the investigations. So far no one has been arrested in this case.
