Kasargod : A special team of the Kasargod police led by DySP Mohanchandra Nair has been successful in seizing nearly 180 kg of ganja in a major haul of drugs in the district in the recent times.The value of the ganja is around Rs 27 lakhs.

The raids followed a tip off and were carried out in  Uppala and  Manjeshwar. The first raid was  on the Azeena Quarters at Mallangai in Uppala where the cops found 30 kg of ganja. A person identified as Abdul Azeez (38) was arrested while a woman has been taken into custody for questioning.

Following the revelations made by them, Police raided a house at Bajal in Pavoor near Manjeshwar where they found 150 kg of ganja. Another person named Abdul Rahiman was arrested here.

Interrogations of the duo revealed that the ganja was earlier stocked at Kunjattur and was shifted later to the two places which were now raided.

Police personnel including Ramachandran, C K Balakrishnan, Narayanan, Mahendran, Ramachandran, and others were part of the operation.
