Mangalore : A team of Bajpe police led by inspector Dinaker Shetty has arrested Prashanth (27) alias Pachu who was wanted in connection with the murder of Girish Putran of Hoigebazar. He is the last accused in the case. The arrest was made at Shivabagh on April 10, Wednesday.
Police had earlier arrested Natasha of Kodikal, her friend Rajesh and Rithesh in connection with the case.
It is said Prashanth was an employee of MESCOM in Kalianpur. His car was used to take Girish Putran on the day he was murdered.
According to police sources, Girish was after Natasha who was planning to marry Rajesh. It is said Girish was harassing Natasha forcing her to decide to eliminate him once for all with the help of her friend Rajesh and Ritesh. Accordingly they had taken Girish, who was engaged in land dealings and fish trade, to Bajpe on the pretext of showing a land.
From there they took him to a beach, gave him beer to drink and during return journey stabbed him in the car while seeing to it that the stereo was kept in high volume so that the outside world was unaware of the happenings inside the car.
They had then dumped the body at Permude after removing all the gold which Putran was wearing. The mobile phone was thrown at Bantwal and the clothes burnt at Belthangady where they stayed at a relative’s house.
The police had seized all the jewels including rings, chains and bracelet from the accused. Investigations are underway.
