Uppinangady : Western Range IGP Pratap Reddy  has said that  the police system would be strengthened to put a check to the speeding gas tankers and to control accidents on the NH 75 by pressing interceptors into service.

The IGP who visited the Gas tanker mishap site at Perne on August 10, Wednesday said  the department has realized that over speeding by gas tankers has led to the mishaps. He said steps would be taken to regulate traffic on NH 17. Measures will further be initiated to reduce traffic congestion.

He said meeting with oil company representatives has been held and caution would be exercised to see that such incidents did not recur. He said the police department had taken the Perne incident seriously.
