Udupi : Several candidates including Pramod Madhwaraj of the Congress and Sudhaker Shetty of the BJP who are contesting from Udupi constituency, filed their nomination papers to the election officer at the taluk office here on April 15, Monday.

Both the leaders arrived along with their supporters. The BJP candidate was accompanied by the sitting MLA Raghupathi Bhat. Both of them exuded confidence of the victory of the BJP and added the people  will surely vote for the BJP considering the developmental works taken up during the BJP regime. Several party men including Yashpal Suvarna were present.

The Congress candidate Pramod Madhwaraj was accompanied by his wife and several party workers. Later speaking to media men, he said he was sure that the people who are disillusioned with the BJP rule would back the Congress this time.

 Lalaji Mendon, the present MLA from Kaup filed his nomination from his home constituency. Alevoor Yogish Acharya submitted nomination papers as an independent candidate.
