Udupi : In an interesting case, a husband and a wife have filed their nominations as independent candidates from the Udupi assembly constituency. Those who filed nominations are Alevoor Yogish Acharya and his wife Vandana.

Acharya is the President of Undivided Dakshina Kannada Vishwakarma Okkuta. The couple said their decision to contest stemmed from the demand to get due representation to the Vishwakarma community.

What has been gathered is that  both have decided to file nominations as either one of them may remain in the fray in the event of any one’s nomination rejected. It is learnt  Vandana would withdraw her nomination on April 20, if her husband’s nomination is accepted.
