UP Govt of Mayavati spends Rs.72.50 crores on Lathis.

Ayodhya: A Massive amount of Rs.72.5 crores are being spent on police bandobust in Ayodhya on Sept.24, mostly for lathis (wooden sticks) to disperse angry mobs and anti-social elements, on the publication of a split verdict (2 to1) of a Lucknow special bench on the Rama Janambhoomi issue.

The entire atmosphere in Ayodhya at the moment is surcharged with anxiety, fear, anticipation of mutual fighting, even bloodshed, which could be avoided not by police force but by love and persuasion.

The Hindus are supposed to abide by whatever the crucial verdict says, by a bench led by a Muslim judge, while another Hindu judge (out of 3 in the panel) is due to retire on Sept. 30.

The fact that lathis come so costly to handle, suggested that police violence in society has to be paid for, to create peace.
