Kundapur : In a tragic road accident reported from Haklady near Kundapur on April 22, Monday, one person died and three others belonging to a family sustained injuries when their Maruti Omni hit a   tipper.

The person who died in the accident is Ravindra Poojari (28) from Ullooor, Kandavar. The mishap took place when Ravindra was on way to Aloor Temple along with the family of his sister who had arrived from Mumbai just two days ago.

Ravindra’s brother-in-law Shanker Poojari sustained serious injuries. His sister Saroja and her children Sapna (11) and Swayam (5) are also injured and  hospitalized.

The impact of the collision was such that  the Maruti Omni was badly mangled while the tipper collided against a tree. Shanker who is seriously injured is working abroad.

The tipper driver has fled the scene of the accident.

Gangolli police have registered a case.
