Mangalore : Border Security Force undertook a route march in the city on April 25. This was organised in a bid to ensure the people of Mangalore that peace will be maintained during the forthcoming Assembly Elections, which will be held on May 5. BSF troops are now in the city in full force to provide security during the elections particularly in the city and also in the district.
The troops undertook a route march through the city which is a warning bell for those who have other things in mind during the polls. The route march took off from the police commissionerate office and moved via Badriya Junction, Hoige Bazar, Bolar, Jeppu Market, Cascia Junction, Mangaladevi, Pandeshwar, Old Kent road, A B Shetty circle and assembled back at the Commissioner’s office.
Speaking exclusively to mangalorean.com Assistant Commandant said that on April 2nd, battalion, B’COY 149 comprising of 100 troops from all communities and states have come from Coimbatore to study the emergency situation in Mangalore and ways to handle it. The force is also deployed to study about riots, communal violence and situation in politically volatile states in the country. He said that the route march will create a sense of security in the local people for free and fair elections. This will also send a message to anti social elements who intend to create problems during the election process.
When asked about the hospitality in Mangalore, Asst Commandant said that the hospitality is very good, we feel quite at home and the weather is also very pleasant compared to most other places. We will remain in the city until the entire elections process is over.
Route march will continue and will be held in various places in the city till the end of the elections.
