Mangalore : Addressing a press brief, Harsha Gupta, DC Mangalore, informed that HPCL has released RS.17Lakhs as immediate intrim relief fund for the victims of Perne Gas tragedy of April 9. Injured got Rs 50,000 each.

So far 11 people have lost their lives in the worst tragedy of its kind in the district. Harsha Gupta DC, Mangalore, took special interest to oversee the hole affair and responsible   for the speedy deliverance of compensation package from government as well as HPCL. He also taken to task the HPCL officials for their luke-warm response to the tragedy.

According to one estimate, total monetary loss amounts to nearly 50 Lakhs. That includes  shops, houses ,vehicles gutted in the incident. Govt has released Rs. 10 Lakhs as a compansetion for the deceased.

HPCL has been directed to provide  a rescue vehicle with full safty features by district administration.
