Mangalore : Akshay Kamath, a student of Canara PU College in Mangalore has made the city proud by topping the state in science stream in II PUC exams. He has secured 594 out of the total 600 marks. Sooraj Hegde from Alva’s College, Moodbidri topped in science stream by securing 593 marks (98.83%)
Akshay scored 100 per cent in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Electronics, 94 in English and 100 in Sanskrit, Sooraj cored cent percent marks in Business Mathematics, Statistics, Accountancy and Business Studies, 98 in Sanskrit and 95 in English.
Akshay is the proud son of K Umesh Kamath and Jayashree Kamath, both bankers and has undergone coaching at Expert. He aspires to become an Electronics Engineer and says he has studied six hours a day for studying and used to study for as long as 10 to 12 hours during holidays.
Akshay is hoping for a seat at NITK-Suratkal. He has also appeared for JEE exams.
Sooraj Hegde is the son of Santhosh Hegde, a senior assistant in National insurance, Moodbidri and Prasanna Hegde, an assistant in Head Post office Karkala. He plans to appear for CPT exams. Suraj is also a philatelist.
