Puttur : There are indications that Puttur’s newly elected Shakuntala Shetty may all likely get a cabinet berth as she is the lone woman MLA from undivided DK district.
A total of three women have been elected MLAs from the Congress in the state and there is a possibility of all the three getting berths in the cabinet.
However, so far none serving as Puttur MLA have become ministers. When DV Sadananda Gowda was the MLA there was a Congress government and when Vinay Kumar Sorake represented Puttur, the Janatha government was in existence in the state. Though DV later became the chief minister, then he was the MP f Udupi.
Though Shakuntala Shetty later got elected from BJP in Puttur, she could not find a place in cabinet and so was the case with Mallika Prasad, the erstwhile MLA.
There are rumours that Shakuntala securing a win from Puttur from the Congress will surely gift her with a cabinet berth.
There is a possibility of even Congress leader Oscar Fernandes who evinced interest in bringing Shaktuntala to the Congress, pressurizing for a cabinet berth for Shakuntala.
