Mangalore : Deputy Commissioner N Prakash has asked the MCC officials to complete all side drain desilting works in Mangalore by May 25.
The DC who addressed a meeting of officials at the MCC Meeting Hall on May 15, Wednesday directed the officials to gear up for monsoon eventualities and urged them to take steps to see that minimum inconvenience is caused to the common man.
The Deputy Commissioner even directed the officials to complete all progress works which were kept pending owing to election. On this occasion, the DC even warned contractors against neglecting the works assigned to them. Anyone failing to complete the work on schedule will face action and the contract will be cancelled, the DC said.
The MCC Chief Superintendent Engineer, who also spoke said that already huge storm water drains have been desilted at a cost of Rs 71 lakhs. He said a Task Force will be operative and there will be one team for every five ward. The Task force headed by the Assistant Executive Engineer will function round the clock, he said.
Balakrishna also informed that 12 projects under the Rs 100 crore sanctioned in the first phase, are pending completion, while in the second phase 42 projects are to be completed. He also informed that the Nirmithi Kendra is undertaking the footpath and side drain works.
