Bangalore: Conservation experts heaved a sigh of relief today when the Govt changed its mind on night safari at Bannerghatta Park to avoid disturbing wild animals. They stated that the recent Cabinet reshuffle had made the govt. wiser on conservational matters.
A bio-diversity expert, Harish Bhat said here that night safari could lead to man-animal conflict, as an Elephant had to carry the visitors at night. Two sloth bears were injured in the safari area recently, he pointed out.
Sanjay Gubbi, a member of wild life Board stated that other vacant sites could be utilised instead of Bannerghatta which is under pressure as a wild habitat for elephants so near Bangalore.
Deepak wanted the govt, to allow wild animals to live in peace, without disturbance. We are not in Africa, where they had large areas for tourism, he added.
Forest department officials wore grins, after the night safari was stopped.
