Bangalore : The Lokayukta police on Friday conducted raids on the residence of six government officials across the State and seized documents.

Additional Director General of Police (Lokayukta) H N Sathyanarayana Rao said the raids were conducted in  Bangalore, Chikmagalur, Chitradurga, Davangere and Madikeri.

The executive engineer of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), K Govindaiah was found to possess a staggering 123 per cent of assets disproportionate to his income. He was found to possess two residential house at Nagharbhavi, two multistoreyed buildings at Kempegowda and BDA layouts in the name of his wife, along with six sites around Bangalore at Marasur village (Anekal), Dasanapura hobli, Gidada Konenahalli and T Dasarahalli (Yeshwanthpura).

S K Venkatesh, first division assistant at directorate of Municipal Administration in Bangalore, was found to possess more than 1 kg of gold, a residential house in Kengeri hobli and a site in Chandra Layout. He is also a holder of a general power of attorney for a site at Pattanagere.

N K Rangaswamy, Police Inspector at Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Bangalore, had Rs 1.07 crore of disproportionate assets with investments in purchase of a 65 cent of coffee estate at Karnangeri village (Madikeri), benami residential house at Kengeri satellite town and another residential house in the name of his wife at HSR Layout.

The police also raided the premises of M B Nasir Ahmed, motor vehicle inspector, Chitradurga, and unearthed disproportionate assets of 195 per cent to his income. The Lokayukta officials also discovered that Ahmed had invested in six acre 36 cents of a coffee plantation, four residential sites and a multi-storeyed commercial building in different parts of Madikeri.

The Lokayukta raid at residence of medical officer, Dr N R Ramachandra of Koppa, Chikmagalur district, also revealed that he had purchased 14 sites worth over Rs two crore rupees in the names his own wife, sister and son. His two other properties are being verified by the officials. Criminal cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act were registered against them on May 21 in jurisdictional Lokayukta police stations, he said.-DH News
