Mangalore: CITU general secretary Vasanth Achary, inaugurated DK District Convention of Karnataka Auto Rickshaw Drivers’ Union at NGO Hall on September 26, Sunday.
He also said that the government must provide below poverty line (BPL) cards to all rickshaw drivers since most of them are economically backward.
The requirements of auto rickshaw drivers have not been met by just raising the minimum fare by Rs. 2.
Further he urged the government to add the community of rickshaw drivers into the welfare board in order to get government aid.
Sunil Kumar Bajal, the president of the district unit of CITU, presided over the event. Office bearers of the union along with B. M. Bhat and D. B. Raghavendra were present for the event.
