Mangalore : Children are back in schools after the summer vacations. As in other  parts of the state, schools in district too re-opened on May 30 and children clad  in uniforms were seen in schools with fond memories of their summer holidays.

This year, government has also made arrangements to supply text books on time. Some private schools have already distributed text books on May 30 itself and it is a good sign. Government schools distributed sweets to students and also welcomed the students admitted to first standard with joy.

Education Department sources said there is demand for over 7.5 text books in DK. Various shops selling learning materials, uniforms etc are making brisk business.
