Mangalore : Padyana Gopalakrishna (Pa Go) Award 2013 confered on Mohammad Arif Padubidri, Chief Reporter of Vijaya Karnataka daily for excellent rural reporting on the topic ‘Napkin Ghatakada ‘Yashoda’Gathe’ at the Press Club on June 1, Saturday.
Participating as the chief guests Senior journalist Chidambar Baikampady honoured the award winner with a memento, a citation, and a shawl.
The Award comprses of a cash prize of Rs 5001, sponsored by Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala.
Speaking on the occasion, Chidambar Baikampady said that most of the newspapers mention the award as PaGo but do not mention the full name. Hence this must be mentioned in fully so that the young generation will be known about his personality and achievement.
Recalling his movements spend with Pa Go, Baikampady said that he used to stay at his home and would collect lot of information and knowledge while talking to him.
He would never let any person to insult or defame the reputation of his junior reporters in his presence.
He urged the rreporters to study about the senior reporters and write a biography on them so that next generation will get to know about their achievment and follow them as the role model.
Mr. Arif expressed his joy at having won the award and said that many of his journalist friends have helped him to reach his goal.
