Mangalore : If Naveen Poojari (43), an under trial lodged in the Mangalore, breathed his last while being taken to the hospital from the prison on June 4, Tuesday, there is much suspicion regarding the cause of his death.
Jail authorities however say, Naveen complained of chest pain and collapsed in the cell and was shifted to the hospital where he was declared as brought dead.
It may be mentioned here that Naveen, son of Rajeev Poojari of Ullal, was arrested by the Ullal police under 96 KP Act and was lodged in the Mangalore prison on May 19.
Jail in-charge Dodda Kamath says on May 25, Naveen who was suffering from high fever was taken to Wenlock for treatment and was under medication. On May 28, he was once again taken to the hospital for examination, though he was quite alright. Kamath said on June 4 at around 12.30 noon, he complained of chest pain and collapsed.
It is said Naveen was in good terms with other under trials and this rules out the possibility of any clash in the prison which might have been responsible for the death of Naveen. There is a suspicion that he died of a heart failure.
