Udupi : Private buses observed a strike in Udupi on June 10, Monday in protest against the attack on the driver of  Vishal Travels bus, allegedly by a group of  assailants who were travelling in a Ritz car.

As per reports there were five persons including Yashpal Suvarna, BJP leader and councilor in the car. The supporters of Suvarna are said to be the attackers.

It is learnt the Ritz car was troubling the Vishal Travels bus by coming on its way by applying sudden brakes. As the bus reached Udyavar it was intercepted by the car, the driver pulled out and attacked. The driver Dinesh has been admitted to Udupi Government Hospital. Even the driver of another bus and a few passengers were assaulted when they tried to rescue Dinesh.

In protest against the incident private bus drivers went on a strike  on June 10, Monday  morning . All buses proceeding from Udupi were off the roads inconveniencing the public.

However, by afternoon, the bus  services resumed after the bus crew deciding to call off strike in the interests of the travelling public and after police officials assured to arrest the culprits at the earliest.
