Belthangady:  Thieves who broke into the Parshwanatha Basadi at Neriya in the taluk on June 15, Saturday night have  stolen  a total of 20  idols including eh idols of Teerthankaras, idol of Goddess Padmavathi Devi and two gold chains.

The thieves gained entry into the Basadi by breaking open a window. There were a total of 24 idols of Theerthankaras and 19 of them have been stolen. It is learnt, the thieves  left the Basadi by opening the main door.

The same Basadi was burgled almost one and a half years ago. The stolen idols had been recovered later and  thieves were also arrested. Finger print experts were pressed into service.
