Kasargod : Heavy rains that have been lashing Kasargod district have caused substantial damage to property. In Badiadka, a landslide when a hillock caved in  at Pallangod in Adoor led  to the death of Asma (38) and her son Mubeen (12). Asma was the wife of Muslim League leader MA Abdul Khader.

The hillock collapsed on their house killing the two. The other members of the family however were lucky as they survived.

There has been report of the collapse of a house at  Kottakkandam in Bedadukka village while 15 more houses in the district have been damaged. The total loss has been estimated at Rs.2.13 lakh.

The Madhur Siddi Vinayaka Temple was inundated due to heavy rains. A tree rolled on to the NH at Bevinja thereby disrupting vehicular movement.

There are also reports of destruction of crops in Kanhangad. The problem of sea erosion has also cropped up.
