Mangalore : Manjunath, a young lad hailing from Sullia has proved that nothing can deter an individual if he has a clear cut goal in life.
It is sheer determination that has helped him clear the tough Joint Admission Test for MSc(JAM). One may be surprised to know that he is the son of a daily wage earner and helped his mother work and even did not mind washing vessels in hotels during his spare time to make some earnings.
After being successful in the Joint Admission Test, he is now eligible to pursue his six-year joint MSc-PhD at IIT Bhubaneswar.
He is set to join the premier institution on July 22. To meet his requirements to pursue higher studies, he worked for caterers on weekends and holidays earning around Rs 300 per assignment. Manjunath is also being assisted by philanthropists to pursue his dream at IIT Bhubaneswar.
He needs Rs 43,000 to complete his admission at IIT Bhubaneswar.
Manjunath aspires to be an IAS officer. Let us wish him good luck.
