Mangalore : A man committed suicide after jumping into a public well near gram panchcyat, Bajpe on October 16, Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Ganesh (26), working as a cobbler at Kaikamba, near Bajpe.

It is learnt that, Ganesh was missing from the past four days and was not working from the past few days due to mental illness.

According to locals, Ganesh was depressed after his mother died, as the roof of her house collapsed at Bajpe-Thottilugundi on July 12, 2013.

Bajpe police and fire service arrived at the spot and retrieved the body from the well.

A case has been registered in Bajpe police station.
